The next night Matt and I were going out with our friends, Cade and Lindsey, to celebrate her birthday. So that morning, the 8th, I decided to take a test "just to make sure" in case I had a glass of wine with dinner. The faintest vertical blue line appeared, so of course I spent the next half hour (totally forgetting I had to go to work) staring at the line as if that was going to make it clear. I had fully convinced myself it was nothing but a figment! On the way home from work, I ran by CVS to get a digital test so I could know and move on...totally convinced it would be negative. I took the test and changed clothes, glancing back at the test before I ran downstairs to leave. When I read the word "pregnant" I almost passed out. Don't get me wrong, I was so excited, but I was also shocked and nervous. Shaking, I ran downstairs screaming "Matt... Matt." He had no idea I had ever taken a test, much less two..so he was quite shocked.
The next day, I called my doctor's office and scheduled our nurse educator visit for the September 13th and our first doctor's appointment with Dr. Culver on the 26th. I was so nervous about having to have blood work that I dragged Matt along with me to the nurse educator appointment. I prayed so hard the night before that I wouldn't pass out...and all I can say is GOD IS GOOD! This is the first time EVER that I have not passed out when giving blood! Whoop whoop! After all that, can you believe they are making me wait until my doctor's appointment on the 26th to hear the results of the blood work! Two entire weeks! That should be illegal. I think I was counting on that for verification, so I came home and took 2 more tests to confirm, logical right? Ha!
So as for now, we are sitting (well, I'm sleeping because I am EXHAUSTED!), waiting, gagging, and praying our little peanut is healthy and growing strong! It's killing me not to tell my family, but if you know my sister-in-law, you'd know that once she knows, all of North Louisiana will know ;) So here I am (not so) patiently waiting....
